Answer 20 civics questions to test your knowledge. On the real 2025 test, you must answer 12 out of 20 correctly to pass. On the 2008 test, you need 6 out of 10. Both require a 60% score.
About the US Citizenship Civics Test
The civics portion of the naturalization test covers American government, history, and civic values. A USCIS officer reads the questions aloud and you answer verbally — there is no written civics test.
Which test version will I take?
If you filed your N-400 before October 20, 2025, you take the 2008 test (10 questions from 100, need 6 correct). If you filed on or after October 20, 2025, you take the 2025 test (20 questions from 128, need 12 correct).
